The Mosaic Wedding Company

Basically, I love weddings! I think coming from a wedding planner, that is a given. My wedding was actually supposed to happen on April 25th 2020, but we had to postpone it due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Andy and I decided that we didn’t want 2020 to be made up of only sad things, so we decided to get married in a private ceremony, just the 2 of us. We were married on September 19th 2020 under a beautiful oak tree in Franschhoek. Our big celebration was on April 17th 2021, I feel so lucky I got to marry the love of my life twice, AND I got to wear another wedding dress.  I mean, pretty sure that is something dreams are made of?!

I always wanted my wedding day to be perfect, just as much as you do. I have loved weddings all my life, they are just so romantic and as clichéd as it may sound, it is the first day of the rest of your life, and what a day it will be!

I am a 36 year old born and bred Capetonian. I started out in the wedding industry as a Professional Wedding Photographer in 2008. 

With each wedding that I photographed, I realised how much I loved being a part of my bride and groom’s special day, (I also realised how many brides were in way over their heads and completely stressed out) and slowly but surely, I made my move into becoming a Professional Wedding Planner here in Cape Town.

My husband and I live in Canada and we decided to get married in Cape Town because of how much we love the city. Originally, I did not plan to hire a wedding planner but after two weeks of trying to communicate with vendors in different time zones and not understanding how the wedding industry runs there, I decided to hire someone. It was the best decision I ever made. I learnt more in the first meeting I had with Cara than in all the research I had been doing for weeks. Cara, the owner of Mosaic Wedding Company,  made the process so easy, we told her what we were looking for in a venue and she was able to list off venues from the top of her head that would be suitable for us!

In the months leading up to the wedding Mosaic Wedding Company guided me through everything that needed to be done. At one point in time I emailed her saying “I’m worried that I am not stressed, it must mean that I am forgetting something.” Nope, she was just that on top of everything. In some areas I was very decisive and she was able to find vendors that met my specific requirements. In most cases I was very indecisive, which I hear makes things harder for the wedding planner and vendors. Cara was somehow able to understand what I wanted and made it happen!

Throughout the planning process I changed my mind about things multiple times and Cara handled it with ease, never once did I feel she was frustrated with my indecisiveness. She was very good with advising me vendors to hire and not hire, she advised me well in which areas of the wedding I should spend money on and which areas were not necessary to put money into. On the day of the wedding, Cara made everything run soo smoothly. I remember the night before the wedding my mom asked when I was getting all the flowers, I said “I actually have no idea,” but someone just showed up at my house the morning of the wedding to deliver them, good thing Cara had a plan!

When I walked into the venue the day of the wedding I was in awe, it was more than I could have ever asked for. Everything was perfect and looked stunning! She also made sure the wedding ran on time by queing the DJ, wedding party and venue staff when to play the music, walk down the aisle and serve the food. I am not exaggerating when I say I did not worry about a thing the day of the wedding. I was able to be fully present with my husband and guests and enjoy the whole day!

Thank you so much again, I will never forget what you did for us. We still are still receiving comments about how much fun the wedding was and how it was so perfect, thank you for making it all happen. I can’t actually believe it’s already over 2 weeks since you made our dream wedding come true. We have both been on a massive come down and missing all the wedding prep fun. We both want to say such a massive thank you. We knew straight away that you were the person for the job, on that first Skype and man did you deliver. Not only did you set us up with the most amazing team of professionals who did the most amazing job of bringing together the vision we had for our wedding, but you translated all our crazy ideas and made them come to life. I felt so confident leaving our wedding in your hands on the day and didn’t worry once, even when changes had to be made due to the weather.

Everything was so beautiful on the day and everyone said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. For such a small wedding that makes me so happy, I was worried we wouldn’t have enough atmosphere, but in the end it was brilliant, the flowers and decor and lighting really set the atmosphere up. You and Rowenna did a fabulous job. You must hear this a lot, but it was like working with a friend by the end. We always felt like we were your only couple, no matter how busy you were with all your other weddings. You always replied promptly, even when you’d had a wedding on or should have been off on a weekend. You are most definitely the best in the business and were our wedding fairy!

When we renew our vows in 10 years we will be in touch for your services again and will definitely be recommending you to anyone we know who gets married in the gorgeous Cape! We really can’t thank you enough for making our day magical. – Ally & Grant
