My name is Dianne Visser and my business is called Heart to Heart Weddings. I live and work in Umtentweni, on the KwaZulu Natal South Coast of South Africa. I am a Marriage Officiant, which provides me with a truly wonderful opportunity to work with couples at such a significant time in their lives. Knowing that they trust me to bring the perfect words to their ceremonies, to celebrate with them and for them, to walk beside them from our first meeting, right up until their wedding, day warms my heart, and I give thanks daily for the privilege.
My Passion is people, and one of my greatest desires was to become a Marriage Officiant. This wonderful work I have been doing for over 10 years. I am also a Civil Union Marriage Officiant, which means I officiate for same-sex couples.
When a couple approaches me to officiate their marriage, I like to sit and chat about their lives and their intentions that they are setting together for their life as a married couple. I believe we should choose the words that reflect what they want to create in their lives and marriage. I walk beside them, and I celebrate all the exciting moments and I am also there when things get stressful.
I have met and walked beside the most beautiful couples, (every couple is beautiful and every day is unique and special) and each one will live on in my heart. This work that I do is not really work. To stand in front of a couple, and bear witness to such a sacred moment, when a couple commits to walk beside each other, through good times and hard times is indeed an honour.
I offer a small intimate registration in my office, or I travel to the venue of choice for the couple. I have officiated weddings in such a variety of settings. Some couples prefer their garden, while others the beach, and some choose from an incredible variety of wedding venues all over the country.
I am a trained counsellor, which means I offer counselling and coaching. This includes Pre-wedding counselling, couples counselling, or counselling for people who are battling with their daily challenges.
In addition to being a Marriage Officiant, I also conduct baby blessings, or baby naming ceremonies. It has been such an incredible experience to see the couples I have married, coming back with their babies to be blessed by me.
I also conduct Celebration of Life Ceremonies. As a hospice volunteer of many years, as well as an end of life doula, I am deeply aware of the necessity to be present for people facing terminal illness, as well as their families. This is also something very close to my heart. We go through many stages in our lives, from birth, to marriage to ultimately end of life. I believe that support in all these areas is essential, and therefore I have chosen to focus my attention specifically where I can offer the most support.
