Winter Wedding Venues
More and more couples are opting to celebrate their weddings during the winter months in Cape Town and throughout the Western Cape. Let’s face it, Cape Town and its surrounding winelands offer some of the best wedding venues, even in winter! We are lucky that our winters are mild and that winter weddings offer a certain authentic charm found nowhere else in the world.
We asked some of our Top Wedding Planners for their favourite Winter Wedding Venues.
JOHANNESDAL 1207
Johannesdal 1207 has that wonderful ability to turn an ordinary gathering into a magical celebration. It’s a one-of-a-kind venue created with beautiful and unique spaces to pick and choose from. A rendezvous in the lemon orchards or a festive get-together on the terrace under the oak tree… the hall for a large reception and the blue room for a party to until the early morning hours. And there’s more!
The reception hall has enormous picture windows overlooking the surrounding majestic mountains in the Banhoek Valley, Stellenbosch. While cosily tucked inside, guests can still appreciate the truly breath-taking views, contemporary design and absolutely delightful gardens.
They also offer five beautiful luxurious suites with each their own private veranda.

LANGKLOOF ROSES
Langkloof Roses is a hidden gem situated in the heart of the Wellington winelands. It’s a family run business offering bridal couples a personal touch and outstanding service. They have a variety of options for your ceremony, pre-drinks and reception needs.
You can opt for a luxurious garden affair or their intimate wedding chapel. During the winter months the weather can be very unpredictable so it is wonderful for bridal couples to be reassured of a warm and cosy chapel to get married in.
There is also a large veranda for you to host your wedding pre-drinks to ensure your wedding guests are warm, dry and away from the wintery afternoon.

Langkloof Roses has a wonderful rustic reception venue that works with almost any colour scheme. The wooden elements offer a natural canvas, ensuring that you can bring in pops of colour with your centrepieces.
This venue can also provide accommodation for 50 guests in gorgeous cottages, inclusive of breakfast.
DE MEYE
The Table at De Meye (also a family owned wine estate) in Stellenbosch offers gorgeous picnics which is perfect for morning or early afternoon winter weddings.
There is just something so cosy and romantic about sitting down on a picnic blanket, having a fluffy blanket over your shoulders while you tuck into a delicious picnic basket and a bottle of red wine…
They have also converted an old dairy shed into a unique and characterful venue space. This ensures for a solid ‘plan B’ if you expect rain on your wedding day!
Renowned for their personal touch and fantastic cuisine, The Table at De Meye is a must-see.

BELAIR PAVILLION
This stunning venue in Paarl offers so much as an intimate winter wedding venue. It requires very little décor and looks heavenly with lots of candles.
Belair is known for their unique steel and glass venue, full-scale labyrinth, exquisite reflection pool and picture-perfect gardens. These features make Belair truly different.
Some other attractive features are their gorgeous open air ivy-covered chapel, wisteria-covered arches, well-ventilated reception venue and accommodation on the property.

WEBERSBURG
Webersburg in Stellenbosch has everything you need in a modern, historic, stylish venue. Absolutely ideal for a lavish winter wedding. ZORGVLIET
Zorgvliet Wines offers breath-taking views of both the surrounding Simonsberg and Drakenstein Mountains, ensuring spectacular wintery wedding pictures!
Their multiple spaces offer you and your guests the comfort of the indoors should the weather not play along: their very elegant reception venue, a chapel for your ceremony and their Banghoek Room which is the ideal setting for pre-reception drinks. Giant glass windows will still let you experience the views and natural surroundings.
They also have a Country Lodge that sleeps 36 guests, offering the perfect accommodation for anyone who wants to stay over.

401 ROZENDAL
For a 100 year old renovated farm shed, 401 Rozendal just oozes with character. There is a lot to love about this venue in Stellenbosch. Most parts of the original architecture were kept intact, but today the shed stands proud as a modern-rustic wedding venue, together with five farm-style cottages and a four-bedroom breakaway house.
The venue offers a modern-rustic canvas and clean lines, welcoming a range of wedding décor styles and giving couples the opportunity to truly make the space their own.
Besides the reception and outdoor area, the venue boasts with an indoor chapel, comfortable lounge with fireplace, dance area and a classy bar. The space is extended with a large veranda and garden which can be covered with a bedouin tent if required.
LANDTSCAP
Perched on a hill, Landtscap is a modern venue with a neutral palette of raw surfaces and organic design, bathed in natural light and a 270-degree view of the Stellenbosch mountains. Ceiling-to-floor windows and glass sliding doors on three sides allow guests to take in the majestic landscape and at the same time be protected from wintery elements. Did we mention the fireplace?
The indoor area opens onto a wooden deck that is perfect for cocktails if the weather permits or can be covered by a bedouin tent. The deck leads onto a beautiful lawn that is wonderful for ceremonies, pre-reception drinks or food stations.
BOSCHENDAL
At Boschendal, surrounded by the breathtaking Groot Drakenstein and Simonsberg mountains, you will find many venue options to choose from enabling you to tailor your wedding.
The Olive Press and The Werf Restaurant are two options that make ideal settings for winter weddings. The Olive Press can host up to 200 guests and The Werf is perfect for more intimate weddings of around 30 guests.
Both have majestic views as well as large fireplaces to keep you and your guests comfortable during the cooler months. Boschendal has various luxurious cottages to choose from for a overnight stay – ideal for guests who’d rather stay the night.

WINERY ROAD FOREST
Winery Road Forest is a private forest in the heart of the winelands found between Stellenbosch and Somerset West. They are a private wedding venue with boundless scenic options, no matter the season.
