2023 is the year of exciting wedding colour palettes, with bold, vibrant colours that create a joyful ambience amongst guests – and not to mention the stunning photos that come with it.

It creates a uniqueness to your wedding, by not going with the normal ‘soft colour’ palette, or the modern black and white colour scheme. It adds fun to your wedding and often is a great conversation starter amongst the guests.

Think about it, who wouldn’t want to add the words “a colourful, bundle of joy” on their wedding invites as the dress code?

2. BIG florals

The arch could be considered as one of the more important décor items, as it is often one of the main features of the ceremony. Apart from shining the spotlight on the arch, big floral arrangements – and décor is becoming trendier by the day; and by big, we mean REALLY big.

If you are keen to splurge on a BIG floral arrangement, perhaps opt for something like a floral backdrop; this will create the perfect photo backdrop for you and your guests. And if you’re feeling extra ‘splurgy’, a neon sign with the newlyweds’ initials or a simple phrase would look absolutely stunning!

3. Formal dress code

Gone are the days of looking back at your wedding photos and having it look like a small town ‘sokkie’. 2023 is all about formal wedding attire; gents, opt for a good quality suit with a pair of dress shoes.

Ladies, opt for something like a (formal) chic cocktail dress, or even a longer gown and finish the outfit off with a pair of elegant heels and jewellery.

4. Two-in-one wedding dress

Another trend that is making a stellar comeback in weddings, is the dress. The two-in-one wedding dress entails a removable skirt to spice up your look from the ceremony to the reception.

Once the skirt is removed, it will reveal a fitted gown underneath, or if you’re looking for something a bit more comfortable and fun, you can opt for a shorter dress.

5. Mismatched bridesmaids dresses

One of the breakaway trends that have popped up on the 2023 wedding trends radar, is the mismatched bridesmaids dresses. This trend creates a sense of individuality and uniqueness when it comes to different styles and it allows your bridal party to tap into what they feel would be most confident in and feel the most comfortable wearing.

To pull this off in a cohesive way, stick to dresses that are similar in length and colours that are in a general colour family. Other than that, feel free to add a pop of floral print or even different materials.
